My Book Boyfriend

Cameron “Cam” Hamilton

Okay. I’m officially in love. This is a boy out for my own heart. Seriously. I’m not kidding.

Cam is all sorts of perfect. He’s got the hottest body ever, only the kind that can be obtained with meticulous attention to benching and squats and other things that can make him into a brick wall of awesome manly man. And they have. Holy hot boys everywhere, they so have.

But that’s not all. He’s also inherited the most gorgeous blue eyes. The kind that don’t even look real. But as soon as they’re on you, you’re drowning and you can’t come up.

And the tattoo. The sun tattoo. *swoon* He is absolutely 6 feet 3 inches of sexiness dipped in honey.

“You’ve been checking me out, haven’t you? In between your flaming insults? I feel like man candy.”

Cam is the kind of self-assured that most people wish they could be. There’s never a trace of doubt in him that he’s perfect. No ounce of random hesitation, no nothing. It’s so refreshing and it doesn’t even come off as jerk-ish. A little cocky, but in the most amazing, charming way. He just knows he’s awesome and that’s what makes him even more awesome. But he’s also sweet and endearing and oh-my-god he bakes cookies. He bakes freaking cookies in a way that would make Betty Crocker throw up her spatula and retire.

“I’m beginning to think cookies is a code word for something else.”
“Maybe it is.” He tugged on my bag again as he took a confident step back, forcing me down another step. “And just think about it. If cookie was a code word, whatever it symbolizes, it’s been in your mouth, sweetheart.”

Alright. I think I just passed out from that quote. If there was a cookie club in honor of Cam, I’d be president. Really.

Did I mention how much I love that he calls her ‘sweetheart’? All the time? I mean, I’m all for ‘baby’ and ‘love’ and whatever as long as it’s not said in a sleazy tone, but… ‘sweetheart’ is just so raw. And it makes me giddy. Like, the maniac type of giddy where I will run around in circles with a picture of Cam in my fist and then smack into a wall, still giggling like a fool. He’s just that smooth.

And Cam is not perfect because he’s perfect (and let’s get this straight: if you haven’t figured it out by now, he’s perfect). He’s perfect in a way that most authors can’t even fathom to create. Because even though he’s hot and completely and utterly swoon-worthy, he’s also fun and funny and a little bit insane. He’s the type of insane that can only appeal to other insane people, like myself.

Need proof?

He has a tortoise. Named Raphael.

Yes, it is a reference from The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. No, I don’t think that’s strange. I think it’s absolutely insane.

I love his tortoise.

“You’re joking, right?”
“No. I’ve been living here for a while—like a couple of years with my roommate. You know, the fucktard who put poor Raphael outside.”
“Hey!” the guy yelled from inside their apartment. “I have a name. It’s Señor Fucktard!”

Señor Fucktard(aka Ollie)  would be his charismatic roommate’s drunk personality’s name. I think I’m in love with him, too.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve even been this excited over a book, not to mention a book guy. I mean, there’s always guys that you read about or watch on tv and you’re like “I want him” but with Cam, “I want him” just won’t do. No, it gets to the point where, from the first page, you’re saying “I want his babies”.

He’s… And I’m… And then… And now… *sigh* I am upset that after reading about Cam, no one will ever appeal to me again. Because, let’s face it, it’s like the perfect mold of boy personality.

“I have cookies.”
“Cookies?” My brows rose.
“Yeah, and I made them. I’m quite the baker.”
For some reason, I couldn’t picture that. “You baked cookies?”
“I bake a lot of things, and I’m sure you’re dying to know all about those things. But tonight, it was chocolate and walnut cookies. They are the shit if I do say so myself.”

Cookies are a big deal. You have to understand that. So I must mention it twice. He. Bakes. Cookies.

And Cam is just so… patient. This book deals with a girl(the protagonist) who’s been raped. So, she’s basically never gone on a date or done anything because of it. And when he finds out that she’s never even been on a date, he asks her out.

Every day.

For two months.

Oh. My. God.

From day one, he knows that she’s got some stuff to overcome. Stuff that would make her uncomfortable with the dating scene. And he knows that she absolutely does not want to date him. So he turns on the charm, and BAM. The first charming thing he says has you in love. I don’t know if I’d be able to tell him no for two months without seriously doing myself some psychological damage.

“You want to say yes, but you’re just not ready.”
My jaw dropped.
“It’s okay.” His grin turned cocky. “I’m a lot to handle, but I can assure you, you’ll have fun handling me.”

That I would.

And on Sundays, he attacks her apartment and makes eggs and brings whatever treat he’s baked that week with him.

“You know what they say about a guy who kisses a girl’s ass? Literally?”
“He knows his place?”
“Ha. Ha.” He swept my hair off my neck and kissed me there. “He’s absolutely in love with the girl”

*Swoon #2*

Cam’s kisses… don’t even get me started. He doesn’t just kiss. He devours. He leans in, presses his lips to hers, and then he pulls her to him and kisses her like he’s a starved man and she’s the first meal he’s seen in weeks. And he kisses like that all the time. Because Cam’s kisses are meant to brand you, and to leave you absolutely sure that you’re his and his alone. After you’ve kissed him, nothing else compares to that. There’s no going back.

Okay. I’ll stop. Because right now, my heart is galloping at an unhealthy rate and I’m about to have a heart attack due to the fact that, really, Cam is perfect.

OH! But one more thing.

I was upset that the book was over because the story was something special in on itself. But then I found out (wait for it) THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL TO THIS BOOK! It’s called Trust in Me, and it’s Wait for You 1.5. You know what the 1.5 means? It means that this book, out on October 22nd, 2013, will be an entire, lengthy book in CAM’S POINT OF VIEW! AHH! Yes! I know! Oh. My. And also, the side note by the author says that it has a lot of scenes that aren’t even in Wait for You. I think I fainted when I found out.

Alright. Because I’m about to pass out, I think it’s time I stop.

You have to read this book. You have to fall in love with Cam. Because once you fall in love with Cam, your world will make sense. And then it won’t. It’s perfect.

Valek

Assassin Study (Study, #1.5)

Valek from Poison Study is who I have chosen to debut my Book Boyfriend fantasies. Yes. I know. An assassin. How hot is that?

Bio: In the book, he’s described as having sapphire-blue eyes, shoulder length ringlets of black hair, a strong angular face, and a C carved into his chest from a fight he got into with Commander Ambrose. Valek had lived in the Icefaren Province (later renamed MD-1), and when his father couldn’t pay taxes due to a harsh winter collapsing his leather business, the taxing soldiers killed Valek’s three brothers. This inspired Valek to train as an assassin to kill the King that sent the soldiers. At the end of Fire Study, it is suggested that when Valek’s brothers were killed, Valek pulled so much magical power to himself that he created a permanent null shield (Null Shield: protection layer against magic). This null shield allows him to become one of the most successful and deadly assassins.

“But you’ve slipped under my skin, invaded my blood and seized my heart.”

*swoon* Okay, that is just so hot. Valek, being the Commander’s loyal right hand, had to take over tasting his food when the royal poison taster died. He then sends for a woman who is to be hanged, and asks her if she would like to instead pay her dues as a poison taster. She agrees, and he poisons her with Butterfly’s Dust. She must receive an antidote each morning or she will die, and this is what makes her keep her word to Valek. And when a guy compares you to a poison as a proclamation of love like that, how can you say no?

“How did you—”
“Fool your guards? They’re not very good. They forgot to check the ceiling for spiders.” Valek grinned.

Valek is just the sneakiest, cheekiest, funniest, sexiest thing you’ve ever read about.  And who doesn’t want the deadliest assassin in the world to snuggle up to at night? This guy has very, very rarely ever lost in a fight, and in a world full of powerful magic, you have to wonder how someone hasn’t managed to kill him yet.

“It’s a dirty way to fight, but I’m late for lunch.”

Oh yeah. Maybe it’s because he has no problem playing dirty. Not that I have a problem with that.  Rawr. *wink* No, but seriously. A guy with self confidence like that is a complete turn-on.

“Valek coalesced from the shadows and wrapped me in his long lean arms. I soaked in his musky smell, listening to his heart beat. Strong and steady. No indication that he had been sneaking around.”

Boy, does Maria V. Snyder know how to make a girl’s heart race fast! I’m completely in love with Valek. There’s just no words.

Be sure to check out the Poison Study series, you guys! It’s completely worth it. Especially with a hottie like that around. Yum.
